HOMETOWN - HOMEGROWN
Growing up in New Baltimore, my parents taught me to appreciate just how special our community truly is. As an adult I've come to appreciate it even more. It's why I have chosen New Baltimore as the place I want to live and to raise my future children. But regardless of your life phase, our city is the perfect place to call home and I am committed to keeping it that way.
I’ve spent the early part of my professional life as a community organizer and political aide. With years of experience dealing in Lansing, I understand that solutions to the challenges facing our cities won't be found by out of touch politicians. Rather, it is up to local leaders, listening to people in their communities, to forge a path forward for Michigan's cities.
As a proud alumnus of Anchor Bay High School (2008) and the University of Michigan (2012), I returned to New Baltimore after college in hopes of putting down roots in the town that raised me. I am the proud son of Gary and Cynda Covert, youngest of three brothers (Kevin (Erin), Eric (Katie), uncle to two nieces (Addison and Vivian), and the lesser half to Samantha.
As a member of the New Baltimore City Council since 2017, I am focused on delivering results for residents. My first term priorities are: breaking ground on a new recreation center, private development of city owned properties downtown, improving public roads and passing a long term funding package, improving city communications, and fostering an improved business and development friendly environment. I serve as a member on Roads & Public Utilities Committee, Arts & Culture Commission, Local Development Finance Authority, Retiree Health Care Board, the Select Committee on Downtown Developments, and the Medical Marijuana Facility Review Board.
