Ryan: The Hometown Choice
Growing up in New Baltimore, I was taught to appreciate just how special our community truly is. Like many of you, I have come to appreciate that even more with all that is happening in the world today. The kindness, generosity, and neighborly spirit of this city are as genuine as they are unique. They are among the reasons I have chosen New Baltimore as the place to live and raise my future children. But whatever your reason, it is the perfect place to call home and I am committed to keeping it that way.
An alumnus of Anchor Bay High School (2008) and the University of Michigan (2012), I returned to New Baltimore after college in hopes of putting down roots in the town that raised me. I am the proud son of Gary and Cynda Covert, youngest of three brothers (Kevin (Erin), Eric (Katie), uncle to two nieces (Addison and Vivian), and the very proud fiancé of my soon to be wife Samantha.
I’ve spent the early part of my professional life as a community organizer and political aide. By day I work in government affairs & communications for the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority. With years of experience working in Lansing, I understand that solutions to the challenges facing our cities won't be found there. Rather, it is up to local leaders, listening to people in their communities, to find local solutions to local problems.
In my first term, I have focused on delivering results for our city, always seeking to find solutions rather than point out problems. I put my heart into this role and have taken seriously my responsibility to learn the ropes. I always strive to bring new ideas, energy, and optimism to the position. For four years this is who I have been and, if re-elected, it is exactly who I will continue to be. Click the issues button below to learn more about my priorities for New Baltimore.
